Polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH) is made by hydrolyzing polyvinyl acetate, Intercol uses PVOH as a raw material or as an additive in its adhesives and coatings. Due to our expertise in this area and our contract blending capacities, Intercol also offers PVOH blends as contract manufacturing products. These products are water-based mixtures of several, normally harmless and food-safe substances. The amount of hydroxylation is a very important basic parameter. A pure PVOH dry adhesive film is a hard, colorless and odorless crystalline thermoplastic with a Tg of around 100 ° C. Intercol is able to adapt the dry adhesive film, for example by adding food-safe plasticizers. PVOH is very soluble in water, completely biodegradable, has good resistance to solvents and oils and offers very good adhesion to cellulose and other water-absorbing surfaces.
